Seen today on the transit mall… two mounted officers end up with a line of cars behind them at a slow walking pace as they mosey down SW 5th Avenue….

Pains, Trains and Automobiles

by Cosmic Charlie

Here at OurPDX, we are all TriMet, all the time. (Kidding. It just looks that way today.)
Coming May 24, downtown bus service will undergo massive changes. For the last two years, construction of the MAX Green Line and transit mall remodeling have had buses running along SW 3rd and 4th Avenue. In a couple of [...]

TrimeTwitter

by Dieselboi

As you know, Twitter jumped the shark a couple of weeks ago when Ashton Kutcher and Oprah jumped aboard.  Needless to say, Twitter has been all over the news and everyone is asking about it.  On Mother’s Day, did your mom A) give you her Twitter handle or B) ask you “about this twitter thingy…?”  [...]

Instant Karma’s Gonna Get You

by Cosmic Charlie

I will preface this post with a disclaimer: I love TriMet and sing its praises here often. I’m grateful that, for about the price of two tanks of gas, I can commute all month. I meet lots of interesting people, and observe lots more. I love the time it gives me to ponder the universe, [...]

Hollywood Farmers Market Premiers

by Jeremy Towsey-French

Spring has certainly sprung. The city is in full bloom, with endless rows of cherry trees coming into their own in a cycle of pure brilliance; as one tree gracefully halts, the next begins its surge.
For many in stumptown, springtime in Portland is marked by the start of the Portland Farmers Market. For those of [...]

Fans Don’t Leave

by Radio Gretchen

So… the Blazers’ playoff debut? Kind of a bummer.
The Houston Rockets, led by genetically engineered Yao Ming, made 58.5 % of their shots and beat Portland 108 to (let’s not talk about it). I don’t know what it was like for you folks watching from home, but watching it live and in [...]

Put ‘em out to Pasture

by Cosmic Charlie

As we’ve all been hearing, the bus system is due for a major shake-up in May, and and again in September. Schedules will change, MAX will be running into fresh territory, and a new fleet of buses will be popping up.
Holy shoes, May is next month. Is this year slipping away or what?
As new buses [...]

The Clinton Street Hideaway

by Cosmic Charlie

I’m up contemplating the universe. What else to do at 4:20 on a Sunday morning?
We at OurPDX tend to leave the weather reporting to the professionals, but how do you ignore the first warm, sunny day of the year? Vitamin D deficient, I was chomping at the bit to get out and bask in [...]

During this entire period, there will be no Red Line (Airport) trains between Gateway and the Airport. TriMet will have shuttle [...]

Here’s what we’ve found as we’ve traveled the local PDX web (complete with our comments) for March 14th:
