Don’t think of Portland as a fashionable town? Think again. While Portland may not be the first city folks think of when it comes to fashion, there are some great, local designers around town. One of Portland’s local designers made her way to NYC’s Olympus Fashion Week thanks to Project Runway. (But, did she win? We’ll find out on October 15.) There are designers’ studios all over the place, some in unlikely places, and not just in NW Portland.

And now, you’ll get to see some of their Spring 2009 designs starting October 8 as Portland Fashion Week kicks off. Through October 12, designers from Portland and beyond will show their Spring line in the Pearl District.

To put a Portland spin on the event, Portland Fashion Week seeks to “eco-responsible fashion, stage independent designers, and draw national attention to Portland’s unique intersection of Art, Commerce, and Sustainability.”

Auf wiedersehen!
