TriMet MAX pimping Toyota trucks - incongruous

I was waiting for my MAX yesterday after work when the Blue Line to Gresham rolled up. I glanced up from my book to make sure it wasn’t the yellow line and realized I was looking at a whole train advertisement for the Toyota Tundra, Toyota’s version of the full size pickup. I stood there a little dumbstruck. Here’s our cities purveyor of mass transit advertising for a huge gas guzzling truck. I know it is just advertising and TriMet probably didn’t think twice about the advert, but it is kinda strange isn’t it?

Then again, it was the train going to Gresham. No judgments here, just an observation.

  1. When TriMet gets picky about which ads it wants to run (and which it wants to reject), it finds itself on the losing end of a lawsuit.

  2. That is great. The Tundra looks like it’s driving over the MAX train. Maybe a good idea for a commercial to show how bad-ass it is?
