Once again, PIX, everyone’s favorite dessert destination, is celebrating Bastille Day with activities and…well….dessert.  I know it is strange to be showcasing Bastille Day prior to our own 4th of July elebrations, but I wanted to make sure you have all this on your calendar.  July 12th is only 11 days away. Some highlights of this year’s activities:

Holy crap, a 60lb pig?  I’m so there.  I actually want to do the scavenger hunt, but my peeps haven’t responded - I’m talking to you Brewcaster and Tinymeat!

As an aside, I got all this info from the PIX newsletter.  It comes in usually about once a month.  This month though, either something is wonky or people are dumb.  There are now 15 “replies” to the original newsletter and everyone on the list is seeing them.  Some are “I’ll be there!” others are “Take me off this list.”  I would think in this day and age of email that people would realize the power of reply to all.  Ugh, I’ll just sit back and chuckle.

7 Responses to “ Celebrate Bastille Day July 12 with PIX ”

  1. I now have at least 24 email replies to that Pix newsletter in my inbox - most from people bitching about the fact that they’re seeing all the replies to the message. (To be clear - I didn’t send the mailing, nor am I in any way responsible for it!)

So there are at least 24 people in Portland (or beyond) who haven’t yet mastered the basic email concept of ‘don’t use REPLY TO ALL, moron - and then you won’t SEE the replies, mmm-kay?’

  2. I, too, have many replies from the latest Pix newsletter, which has provided me with quite a few laughs this morning. People on the list just do not understand that “reply all” to a newsletter will, in fact, reply all.

  3. Gabriel Rucker AND roast pig, I’m so there. Oh wait Tinymeat™ is waiting to hear back from the Mississippi Avenue Street Fair about pitching our tent and pimping our merch.
    Hmmm, could be a conundrum.

  4. @Betsy Richter - you may want to start sending the newsletter by putting everyone’s addresses in the BCC field… this will solve the problem pre-emptively. No one will be able to “reply all”.

  5. @Chris - It’s not my newsletter - it’s one that PIX is sending out. If I were doing a customer newsletter, I’d either use the BCC field as you describe, or use an email marketing product like Constant Contact or Campaign Monitor.

  6. I’m on that e-newsletter list, too. It’s a classic, and painful example of how to never do a company electronic newsletter. A PR backfire. The worst is the most recent response, someone pitching them to help them solve the problem with a link to her own website. The whole thing has made me forget the actual content of the news, which is what this post is actually about, isn’t it? Oy. The pain!
